Franklin Pierce offers certification programs in 3 areas: Art Education, Elementary Education and Secondary Education (Biology, Social Studies and English). Education majors select a primary academic major in an area that supplies content background for their certification. Education courses cover learning theory, educational practice, pedagogy, literacy, and special needs. Majoring in Education also requires students to apply separately for admittance to a certification program. Several courses involve field assignments in school settings where students build practice and confidence. Each of the Education programs at Franklin Pierce also requires a semester-long full-time student teaching experience in the fall or spring semester of the senior year. Upon completion of their undergraduate studies, students may continue into Franklin Pierce's Graduate Teacher Education Programs.
